Best before or use by: what's on your pack?
Every pack has a date. But the words in front of it matter: best before or use by.
Best before
Until that date, the maker vouches for the quality, as long as the product is stored properly. After it, it's often still fine, but the quality can decline.
Use by
This date is on products that spoil quickly, like fresh meat. After this date it's no longer safe to eat.
And for peppers?
Tablets, capsules and powders usually carry a best before date. They keep best when stored dry, cool and out of direct sunlight.
