Tablet, capsule, powder or spray: what's the difference?
The label tells you what's inside. Why one product is a tablet and another a powder mostly comes down to practical things.
- Tablet. Powder pressed into shape. There's often a filler or binder in it, so the tablet stays in one piece.
- Capsule. A shell made of gelatin or plant material, filled with powder or oil.
- Powder. Handy for larger amounts, like a few grams at a time. You dissolve it in water or another drink.
- Spray. A liquid you spray into your mouth. Small and easy to take along.
- Melt tablet. A tablet that melts under your tongue.
What the form doesn't tell you
The form says nothing about the amount inside. That's always on the label, per daily dose.
